The Trainwreck Has Left the Station

If you don’t know Amy Schumer, you’re living under a very unfunny rock. She’s got hilarious standup, an even funnier TV show (ahem, all the episodes are on Hulu) and now a blockbuster of the movie.

Pause. Google the origin of the term “blockbuster.” It’s not what you think, and you’ll be uncomfortable using it henceforth (you can Google that term too).

Anyways, the movie is great. And I have 5 reasons for you to see it now.

1. Amy is you.

You is Amy. You drink too much sometimes. You make a mistake or two (each week). You go into work hungover, but you’re life is awesome (or is it?). This is your twenties (err, thirties, in Amy’s case). You have those friends who have everything together and you have a, let’s say, challenging boss or supervisor.

Cheers to you, Amy.

2. Aaron is the guy you want to end up with.

Ok, maybe you wouldn’t chat him up in a bar (I mean depending on how many drinks you’ve had). But you like that he’s different. He’s the guy who is amazing (compared to all the duds you’ve dated). He’s not Mr. Right Now… he’s not Mr. Right either, honestly. He’s Mr. Wow You’re So Perfect for ME And I’d Never Thought I’d Find You. He’s the one you’ll find when you ain’t even lookin.

3. Their problems are real.

I won’t spoil anything… but just know all the “yes OMG YESSS” moments are there. More so than you’d probably like to admit.

4. LeBron recites all of Golddigger.

Yes, LeBron plays the dopey BFF/support character. But, it’s LeBron. And it’s weirdly awesome. Like, somehow I believe him and Bill Hader could, like, actually be friends IRL.

Oh, yeah. And he deadpans these lyrics:

She got one of yo kids got you for 18 years
I know somebody paying child support for one of his kids
His baby momma’s car and crib is bigger than his
You will see him on TV Any Given Sunday
Win the Superbowl and drive off in a Hyundai
She was spose to buy ya shorty TYCO with ya money

5. It’s a nice reminder to love your loved ones and be the best you you can be.

Yes, there’s that whole cheesy part of the movie when everything comes full circle and you realize the moral of the story. This one is a reminder to love your family hard and try to be your best self even harder.

We might be trainwrecks, but we don’t have to be.
