Last weekend, #BrunchKlub headed out to Urban Eats for some delightful brunch treats. Located on Washington Ave, Urban Eats is a real treat on the Houston brunch scene. It just opened up last year (check out Natalie’s review on it for dinner), so if you head over now you can still be considered a trend setter. Kinda. Well. Whatever. It’s delish and you should try it regardless of when it opened.
Urban Eats was awesome (if not a little bit confusing) because it had so much seating. We went upstairs and got seated for brunch. You could sit inside or outside (bomb ass patio!). There was also seating downstairs inside and outside, but I think that is for the little “market” that they have on the first floor.
Check out some of the delish things we ordered.
Drinks
Carafe of Mimosas and Spicy Habanero Bloody Mary: Brunch staples.
Appetizer
Monkey Bread. I did not know what this was until we ordered. BUT IT’S THE BOMB DOT COM. It’s soft and fluffy and buttery and made with fresh herbs, and should honestly be like 209489204323 times the size they serve because it was so dang good I could have eaten like 10 times that.
Main Course
We got all sorts of things!
Vegetarian Egg Sandwich: Scrambled eggs instead of the usual fried egg with egg whites, spinach, tomato & feta. Not messy! So if you ended up on a brunch date and was super craving that egg bread combo this would be a safe bet (unlike those at North Italia…)
Buttermilk Beignets & Fried Chicken: because chicken and waffles is so last season.
Roasted Chicken & Tomatillo Chimichunga: stuffed with Mexican things like queso fresco and hipster things like hominy and kale, topped with a fried egg because #brunch and served with black beans and Mexican rice because #texas
Duck Fat Camper’s Hash with mushrooms, spinach & artichoke. Unfortunately they forgot the mushroom spinach and artichoke part #rookiemistake. It was a filling bake with came with red potatoes and caramelized onion crisped in duck fat topped with a poached egg.
Breakfast Pie: buttermilk biscuit crust with something like half a dozen eggs, cheddar & cream cheese and spinach (mine) or sausage (Natalie’s). Could have easily served two people. But actually take those leftovers home and enjoy a super delish second brunch.
Intrigued? Feast at Urban Eats and check their menu here.
Was there just recently and I LOVE their chicken.
