- Biscuit Paint Wall. 1435 Westheimer Road. Painted on the side of Buscuit Home by Sebastien Boileau (he’s a bit of a Houston mural legend), this will is a rainbow DIY paint destination in Montrose. #BuscuitPaintWall
- You are My Sunshine. 250 W 20th Street. Located across from Zoe’s Kitchen in the Heights, it’s army green with bursts of yellow make it perfect for jumping for joy, a playful handstand or a spot of yoga.
- Michael Rodriguez Fox Mural. 2101 Winter Street. This one is a bit hard to find as its nestled behind some buildings kind of by the Sawyer Street Silos in the middle of Winter Street Studios. Also, that’s not the official name of the mural, but you get the idea. Once you turn the corner though into the dirt parking lot, you can’t miss the giant graphic art murals painted by Michael Rodriguez. Bonus there’s a little iguana one nearby (1/3/17 update: iguana painted over with new art found in this post).
- Houston is Inspired. 907 Preston Street. Painted by Gonzo247, this mural welcomes you as you fly into IAH and represents the vibrant culinary and arts scene in Houston. Find it in Downtown by Market Square. Fun fact: the description underneath “Houston” is always changing.
- Sugar and Cloth Color Wall. 3302 Canal Street. (RIP, this one was painted over.) If you follow any fashion blogger, recent graduate, newly engaged or pregnant couple, you’ve definitely seen this wall a million times over on your social media. This wall just got an official geo-location on Instagram so if that doesn’t make it official AF, then I don’t know what does. Here are some tips on how to have a photoshoot at this wall a well as some inspo pictures from the launch party. #SugarandClothColorWall (1/3/17 update: this wall has been taken down).
- #ArtBlocksHou. 1000 Main Street. Catch this wall while you can! This giant explosion of color known as #ColorJamHou takes over a Main Street Square in Downtown Houston and is only there for a limited time. The most prominent feature of this art installation are the neon green, pink and orange paint lines that trace across the square running up lamp posts, fire hydrants, and across side walks, but there’s also a few other temporary art installations posted up nearby bringing a lot of vibrancy to Downtown Houston.
- Smither Park. 2402 Munger Street. This unique park is a live sized mosaics made of everything from tiles to dishes to sea shells. As part of the Orange Show, Smither Park is a urban space dedicated to promoting self-taught art.
- Greetings from Houston. 3601 White Oak Drive. Everything’s bigger in Texas right? Snap a pic in front of this super-sized postcard to send home to your friends. This 1970’s style postcard rocks everything that Houston is made of like oil rigs, rocket ships, and the Astrodrome. Best time to come here is in the morning when the sun is rising from the east.
- Synchronicity of Color. 1500 McKinney. Aka that crazy colorful, Lego block looking thing in Discovery Green. Definitely one of the most photographed spots in the park, and with a shaded deck with plenty of seating nearby it brings lots of color to park guests playing and dining.
- Polka Dot Wall. 6521 N. Main St. One of the newest walls in Houston painted by local artist Shelbi Nicole! This playful wall can be found on the side of Haute Dimensions Boutique that proudly pronounce “Friends don’t let friends shop at chains.” Shop local and support local artists with a visit to the #polkadotwall.
Bonus! The Water Wall. 2800 Post Oak Boulevard. Not technically a color wall or mural, but this has got to be one of Houston’s most touristy walls in Houston. Located by the William’s tower in the Galleria, it’s a destination for everything from Quinceañera photos, engagement shoots, and tourists with selfie sticks.
