The temperature dropped 20 degrees and we felt it. We popped right up like gophers and hauled out our boots, sweaters and scarves. We headed to Starbucks: cinnamon, nutmeg, PUMPKIN EVERYTHING.

It’s fall (for now) in Houston, and that means one thing to me: Perfect, sweat-free patio weather for alcohol consumption. (OK, it means more than that, but yeah, mostly about the drinking weather).

Southbank Seafood, 702 W Dallas St.

Go for the amazing downtown view, stay for the frose. I LOVED Southbank Seafood when I went for dinner a few weeks back. The skyline view is what drew me in, but the drinks were YUM and so was the food! Warning tho: There are tons of flies (they also loved the food) and that was extremely off-putting, but what can you do at a seafood place). If you plan on hanging for a bit, eat inside, then take your drinks to the patio to chill, watch a game, play cornhole, etc.

Wicklow Heights, 1027 W 19th St.

This is an Irish Pub disguising as a hip new bar. The owner is Irish and from Wicklow, Ireland, but the bar doesn’t look or feel like a pub. It looks and feels like a bad ass patio bar and a cool house-remodeled into a bar. It’s brand new (opening is actually next month) so there are some kinks to work out. But there are good beers, comfy chairs and fun cocktails — most of which are yum JuiceLand juices and booze. So basically a cleanse? That’s my kind of cleanse. 😉

Bosscat Kitchen + Libations, 4210 Westheimer Rd.

We’ve written about Bosscat Kitchen + Libation’s brunch (read it here) and their dinner (read it here) and ALSO their lunch (read it here) — safe to say they are overexposed. BUT, I do love their drinks. They recently started having a monthly cocktail special. This month’s is a spooky one: The Stephen King. It’s a Manhattan but scarier.

Karbach Brewing Co.

Literally nothing is new about Karbach Brewing Co. Well ok, somethings are new. They are rolling out distribution nationwide, and now our friends out in Louisiana are sipping on Love Street and Hopidillo, and the brewery itself is expanding with new toys (bottling machine, maybe….?). Nothing is new with my love for Karbach either. (Documented here).

But my point here is: Same old patio, but perfect patio weather for a weekend of live music and fresh brews.

Carrabba’s Italian Grill

I know, plot twist. This season’s WTDN has a chain on it. But here’s why: 7-day-a-week happy hour. AKA you can enjoy a Saturday or Sunday happy hour.
