Let’s get groovy, y’all! The Alley Theatre is taking us back in time at its annual SCENE Opening Act Party. It’ll be a fun night out on the town supporting one of our favorite Houston arts institutions.

The party is Friday, September 6, from 8 pm to midnight. It’s put on by the Alley’s young professionals organization, called the SCENE. Get tickets and more info by clicking here!

Member tickets are $100 — nonmember tickets are $150. Consider this as an opp to join a new organization! It’s only $175 ($300 per couple) to join the organization for a year’s dues. (Heads up, this post is sponsored by the Alley, however all opinions are my own!)

1. It’s “bodacious ’80s” themed

Think of the costumes! If you just binged watch season 3 of GLOW like me, this theme is RIGHT up our Alley (pun intended). Big hair, shoulder pads, neon, etc. Let’s do it upright!

2. Enjoy great food and drinks — included in your ticket price!

Ahem, this is our way of saying OPEN BAR. City Kitchen is catering, so come hungry. The invite also touts specialty cocktails, so you gotta check those out. Last year, the party had a space theme (jealous) and they even has cigars available. I wonder what other surprises they have for the 80s!?

3. You could win a trip to the Bahamas

Do you feel lucky, punk? Do ya? The Bahamarama raffle will be going on all night. It’s $50 per ticket and enters you into a 5-night trip to the Grand Isle Resort. I mean, we could all use a vacation I’m sure…

4. Party like a rockstar

The party will completely transform the theatre and take it back in time. There will of course be a dancefloor and DJ, plus a retro “rockstar lounge” to party it up in. AND channel your inner Stranger Things cast and hit up the TBT arcade they will have set up. If you see me, challenge me to Pac Man.

5. You’re supporting a great cause

OK, guys, here’s the real kicker. The event is obviously going to be a fun time, but let’s not forget the most important reason to go — support the cause! The funds go toward The Alley’s Community and Engagement programs, so dropping $150 gets you a fun night and some amazing karma.
