Texas Tulips San Antonio: Everything You Need to Know

Advertisements

Texas Tulips San Antonio is now open! I’m a huge flower fanatic and I’ll travel large distances to see beautiful blooms blossoming. But if you don’t have it in your budget to visit Holland this spring to see the tulips in bloom, you can now visit beautiful fields just down the road in Texas!

Hop on I-10 and head over to see Texas Tulips outside San Antonio in the small town of La Vernia. The tulip field is open for business!

My boyfriend and I made a day trip out of it from Houston. We left around 6:30am so we could get there right on time when they opened at 10am. We stopped off at Buc-ee’s—a necessity for any Texas road trip— and then got a coffee in La Vernia at The Den. Afterward the tulip fields we stopped off at Shiner, Texas to visit the Spotzel Brewery! The Shiner Brewery has always been on my bucket list, but I had never made it because it’s closed on weekends — this Friday was the perfect day for adventures. Flowers for me, beers for him!

Here are some things to know before you plan your trip to see Texas Tulips in San Antonio.

The San Antonio field is open RIGHT NOW! The Texas Tulips fields opened earlier in February. Tulips hate warm weather, so they estimate tulip season to last until end of Feb/early March. Don’t delay if you want to see them! I went to Amsterdam last May and caught the tail end of tulip season there. It was beautiful but most of the flowers were picked over and on their last legs. Next time, I’ll plan better to see them in peak season!

The Texas Tulip field in San Antonio is open seven days a week from 10 am to 6 pm! It’s about a 2.5 hour drive from Houston.
