July 13 is no ordinary Saturday this year. The day is 713 Day — Houston’s official unofficial holiday to celebrate itself. Seeing as were Houston’s official unofficial ambassadors, we’re taking this opportunity to guide you through this special day.

Hopefully, the whole town will pick up on the festivities soon! But for now, here are some 713 Day events to keep track of!
- Saint Arnold Pub Crawl & Concert in Market Square Park. Hit up local bars beginning at 2 pm and catch a concert in the park — we’ll overlook the fact that they booked an Austin band for the free show. Let’s crawl.
- 713 Day at House of Blues with Jack Freeman & DJ Good Grief. A portion of the proceeds from this show will benefit Multiple Sclerosis Society. Rock out.
- (713) Art Show & Market at Saint Arnold Brewing Company. Shop art and local goods with a beer in hand and the downtown skyline as your back drop — nothing more Houston than that. Cheers.

Just chilling at one of your favorite breweries around town constitutes a solid Houston day. Whether you opt for an OG like Saint Arnold’s Brewing or a new keg on the block like True Anomaly, supporting a local brewery is a great way to spend 713 Day!

Support a Houston-worthy cause
When Hurricane Harvey decimated the city, Houstonians turned up in droves. Organizations had to turn volunteers away. Here are some ideas of where you and some friends can channel that volunteer energy even in non-crisis mode. Note: There are loads of ways to volunteer, but here are some ones that I’ve personally done and make for good and easy one-day commitments.
- Houston Food Bank: Stock food, pack care packages, serve dinners, and more.
- Japhet Creek Nature Conservancy and Buffalo Bayou: Pick up trash, rid the greenery of weeds and invasive species, etc.
- Barc Houston: Feed, clean, and love on someone’s future fur baby.

Enjoy a Houston park
July is actually National Park and Recreation Month! So combining that with Houston day, you have no excuse not to get out and get moving! Don’t know where to start? Here are some ideas.
- Discovery Green for grabbing coffee or a snow cone while checking out the pond in busy downtown Houston.
- Levy Park for ping pong, putt putt, arts and crafts, and so much more.
- Buffalo Bayou Park for kayaking, biking, or a run through nature.
