To Dine For: New Houston Insta-Worthy Houston Spots to Try

Vibrant

There must be something in the water because tons of new restaurants have been popping up in Houston — and they are all cute to boot! Go, snap picks, eat, post, repeat.

Wanna drink to that? Here are some watering holes that are also pretty new and pretty darn cute too.

EggHaus Gourmet

EggHaus

Bier for breakfast? Don’t mind if I do. EggHaus, sister to King’s BierHaus, cracked open next door to King’s off TC Jester in The Heights. The fast-casual, counter-ordering spot has German kolaches, innovative tacos, filling sandwiches, sides and an assortment of drinks — lattes, matcha, etc.

EggHaus

The dining area is pretty small — I think the plan is for most customers to take to-go. But there are a dozen or so tables inside the cutest little spot. I love the decor here: bright yellow and floral! Plus a couple neon signs — so trendy — and a little sign by the coffee fixins that says “A yawn is a silent scream for coffee.” TRUTH.

Flower Child

Flower ChildGuilt-free healthy eats are HERE. Flower Child headed east and finally found a home Houston in Uptown Park. The menu is a haven for vegetarians, vegans and gluten-free peeps. Salads, bowls, plates (think sides, but pick three for $9!) and wraps — all look scrumptious and are made with fresh ingredients. Bowls, plates and salads come vegetarian, but add a protein for an upcharge. The wraps come with meat, and they are hands down my fave. I’ve had the Free Spirit and the Rebel. I can’t decide which one is my fave!

Flower Child

The space is honestly the cutest. Outside the entrance is a little lemonade stand that has a fresh beverage for those waiting in line — and trust me, there will probably be a line. It’s very popular! The walls and windows inside are just so cute. Guys, I don’t know what else to say. It’s precious!

The Classic All Day

The Classic All DayWhile I was really bummed to lose my local Benjy’s, The Classic quickly won back my love with its gin drinks, grilled cheese and free candy!!!

The Classic All Day

I was worried The Classic would lean into the diner theme I thought it was going for, but it’s not at all what they did. It’s bright and cute inside, with an adorable patio outside. It’s still got a neighborhood feel to it, and has big windows all around. Majorly bummed there’s no upstairs patio anymore. RIP. That was where we had our very first blog birthday!

La Lucha and Superica

La LuchaCelebrity chef Ford Fry from Georgia opened his second and third restaurants in Houston recently. La Lucha and Superica — sister concepts next door to each other with majorly different vibes and menus.

La LuchaLa Lucha (where Hunky Dory used to be off Shepherd in the Heights) is part dining part hanging out. There’s a mix of dining room tables and comfy chairs and coffee tables. Go here for a casual meeting or a full meal — or maybe the one then the other.

Superica is Tex-Mex, but in a whole new way. Margs are there, don’t worry, but you can also sip on a delicious, alcohol-free Agua Fresca made fresh! You can’t miss the tacos — they are super creative and tasty. There are a few other Superica locations, but this one is where Bernadine’s used to be in the Heights.

Earthcraft Juicery

EarthcraftI think I found the place with the best açai bowls. Now, I gotta admit, it’s probably the only açai bowl I’ve had. NONETHELESS, it was amazing. Basically, it’s sorbet with tons of healthy yums in it: oats, banana, strawberries, kiwi, almonds, etc. If you need something on the go, get a smoothie. I tried the covfefe smoothie because it has coffee in it. And, honestly, because it’s called covfefe. 🙂

EarthcraftThe space is sooo cute. It’s a small shop, but they have a few tables and seats at their bar where you can take shots…. of juice. Plus, there’s a luscious wall perfect for photo opps.

Vibrant

VibrantYou’ll find loads of vegan and gluten-free options on this Montrose eatery’s menu. While the food is a bit pricy and parking is a bit tough during peak times, the decor and fresh flavors make up for it! We felt whisked away to Marfa as we brunched over soba noodles, rainbow carrot salad and gluten-free vegan mac and cheese! Would totally go again.

Vibrant is fast casual, so you order at the counter then pick a table. Note: There will probably be a line, but so worth it!

Bonus: BuffBurger’s new breakfast

BuffBurger

This local burger place has a newish super cutie location in Montrose! In addition to serving a full bar and a mean burger every day, the spot now has a bevy of breakfast sandies to offer! Breakfast burger, cream cheese and lox, egg sandwich, pork belly (!!), and my favorite, chicken and biscuit! The biscuit is perfection and I’m obsessed with their take on the tater tots — get it with the jalapeno ketchup!
