Hey, remember when we told you about the Arts Alliance of Houston and how the Royal Opera House was going to stream Romeo and Juliet? Yeah, it happened. And it was a-freakin-mazing.
Not going to say I LOOOVE watching film versions of ballet—it’s just not the point, right?! But, holy crap. This experience was worth it. The live stream was so cool! There were hosts who told you the deets and took you behind the scenes, and they encouraged you to tweet and instagram along the show because literally people AROUND THE WORLD were watching with you. God bless 2015 technology.
Even though hundreds of people were watching this across the globe, only about 15 other people sat in the River Oaks Theater with me and my mom, leading me to believe I witnessed Houston’s best kept secret. Honestly, it was too beautiful of a day to be in a dark theater, but at the same time, it was too beautiful of a performance to miss. I mean, you can SEE the ballerina’s faces! They actually have to act. Because dancing on pointe isn’t enough.
Anyways, I definitely recommend you check out the next showing, The Nutcracker, on December 13. Check out showings and get tickets here!
In the meantime, enjoy the pics of the lovebirds I snuck during the show!
