Who loves a good fun run?! Even me, a super slow, non-runner can get behind something social that’s also for a good cause! Give me a good chance to donate, run with friends, and maybe even a free beer and/or snack after and I’m down. Even better if it’s during the fall, when temps are low(er than the sweaty summer).
Here are five fun runs to consider this fall if you’re looking to hit the ground running this season.
Running with the Bulls: Oct. 13
GO TEXANS! Show your team pride by sweating it out with your fellow fans. It’s $35-$40 to register depending on when you sign up. You might spot some of the players AND you get to help the team and HEB raise money for the Texans Foundation and Houston Methodist. Register.
Monster Mash Run: Oct. 26
Get in the Halloween spirit, y’all! Costumes, obviously, are encouraged for this one, and guess what! You get beer after. The run starts at Karbach Brewery and you for sure will deserve a beer after you cross that finish line. The 5K is $45, and the 10K is only $5 more… so if you’re thinking about going for the full 10, this might be your time to try it! Register.
Firefly Run: Nov. 16
Calling all night runners. This one’s for the glow up. An evening run, the Firefly Run starts at Buffalo Bayou Park — registration opens at 4 but the runs (10K or 5K) will begin after 5 pm. AKA the PERFECT time to watch the sun go down. There’s an after party too that you can’t miss. Registration options begin at $30. Register.
The Color Run: Nov. 23
This downtown run is one part exercise and one part party. As you run, you get hit (softly) with fun colored powder. It makes for some awesome pix (wear all black or all white!!) and a very messy car at the end of the day. This one’s good for non morning people — the race starts at 10! Registration pricing is between $25 and $40. Register.
Turkey Trot: Thanksgiving Day
Earn your turkey with this fun run supporting Baker Ripley! I’ve done this one before and I had a lot of fun. It’s kind of exciting to have something (other than cooking and eating) to wake up to. Registration varies between $35 and $40 — and hey, overachievers, there’s a 10K option. Register.
