5 Beautiful Houston Murals That Are Full of Hope

These days, it’s easy to feel down. You may have lost your job or are being overworked. You may be missing your friends or family members and all the virtual options are just not doing it any more. I won’t pretend to understand what’s upsetting you most…. but I will try to cheer you up a little.

Art is always something that has the potential to lift my spirits, and here in Houston, we have art all around us! I’ve rounded up five murals across town that put a smile on my face — and I hope that they brighten your day as well! Give yourself a socially distant tour or swing by on your next essential errand!

Just Keep Growing

by @tylerkay at Favor The Kind (642 Yale St) in Heights Mercantile

I’m at Heights Mercantile a lot, and I am ecstatic that this little piece of color now resides next to Favor The Kind! Between the design and the cacti, it’s just all too cute to handle!

Thank You

by @blanco_arte at 1503 Chartres St.

This one just gives me all the feels. On the Southwest corner of Houston Graffiti Park, you can’t miss it! Saying thanks to Houston’s health care workers is so important — and to do so with the skyline in the background, gah! So pretty.

Todo Va A Estar Bien

by @capdavjon at Rosie Cannonball in Montrose

I love what @capdavjon — AKA David Maldonado — does with colors and flowers (and even the Houston Astros!), so. you get a bit of a two-for-one special. “Todo Va A Estar Bien” is one of the Mini Murals on the sides of Rosie Cannonball and Montrose Cheese and Wine, and Familia is brand new on the side of the Houston Graffiti Building at 1503 Chartres St.

Optimism Starts With You

by @Gonzo247 at 2219 Canal St.

@Gonzo247 has got to be the busiest muralist in Houston — I swear he is everywhere. Through a partnership with CultureMap and Frost Bank, he was commissioned to paint this beaut in East Downtown. It’s so fun and colorful and I feel like it really represents allll the emotions — especially ones we are experiencing nowadays.

Here. Right Where You’re Meant To Be.

by @dandee_warhol at Tre’sorelle in the Heights (3607 White Oak Dr.)

This one is so simple and cute and just makes this Texas girl feel all the feels! HIGHLY recommend not going in the late afternoon unless you want these lovely powerline shadows. Womp womp. PS. Go during the store’s hours! It’s brand new and worth checking out!
