Aesop: Give Your Face Some Aussie Lovin

Attention shoppers, a new beauty store has opened in the new and improved Saks Fifth Avenue in the Galleria. It’s called Aesop, and, while it’s an international company, this is the first Houston location. The products make your face feel clean af, which is all I really look for in a beauty care regimen.

I stopped by the new counter, which is gorgeous, by the way… let’s take a moment to appreciate how gorgeous:

Now that that is done. Let’s talk products.

Because I have “normal” skin, which I don’t get. Like, a. normal sounds boring. b. does that mean that the other categories are abnormal? No, right? Just either prone to greasy or extra dry? Anyways, I’m normal. But, I need a lightweight moisturizer in the AM, because I usually throw makeup on RIGHT after. Did I know this pre Aesop-visit? No, not at all. So, basically the staff at Aesop is amazing, and take all their advice (extra points for Alanna who kept it real and had great advice and information for me!)

Here’s all the products I tried, and how I felt about them:

AM and PM face wash: Fabulous Face Cleanser

OK, I’m probably going to say this a lot for a lot of these products, but it SMELLS SO GOOD! The face washing experience was pretty regular (or normal?), but my face felt very clean and dry…enter the toner and the serum.

AM and PM toner: Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Toner

The toner at Aesop starts the hydration process, but honestly I didn’t feel super moist after slapping on the toner. So, the serum is still necessary. Spoiler: Both smell good.

AM serum: Lucent Facial Concentrate

Because of my quick morning routine, I got paired with a light weight, fast-drying serum. I still had to wait a little bit longer than usual, but that must just be serum vs. moisturizer.

PM serum: Parsley Seed Anti-Oxidant Facial Serum

This serum was my “normal” skin recommendation for both AM and PM. I do feel how it’s a little heavier and slower to dry. Honestly, serums in general feel heavier, but I like it? I think. It feels like I’m putting frizz ease on my face. I got used to it, though.

Masque: Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque

I think the masque might be a favorite. It’s thick and dries really hard, but once I washed it off, my face was smooth as a baby’s bottom.

Scrub: Purifying Facial Exfoliant Paste

The scrub did some work on my face. I did the scrub and masque back to back, but I really shouldn’t have. Wasted one, since both provided a smooth finish.

Sunblock: Sage & Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream

I was recommended this cream as a sunblock, and I suppose it worked, but I was told not to put makeup over it, so I wore it on a lazy Sunday. Edit: You can put makeup over it, just don’t mix it. Let it dry, then add the make up!

Spot treatment: Control

What is interesting about Control, is it doesn’t try to heal all your pimples. Rather, it soothes all the symptoms of a blemish.
