If your Instagram didn’t explode this week with pictures from the Sugar & Cloth Color Wall — you’re clearly not following enough Houston bloggers….just kidding! But actually the wall is a site to see and a new photo destination for all Houstonians.
On Tuesday, DIY blogger and creative extraordinaire, Ashely Rose of the Sugar & Cloth launched her most recent project that caused fashion bloggers and fans all over Houston to jump [and insta] with joy. Located at 3302 Canal St., the Sugar & Cloth Color Wall is painted on the side of a warehouse like building in EaDo, which is soon to become the future home of Headquarters, an creative office space for small companies. The wall stands quite tall and is color blocked with eight trendy shades. The sidewalk below each color panel is also painted six feet out to make the perfect photo session backdrop.
I went to the launch party which had a DJ, complementary Deep Eddys cocktails (yum!), El Tiempo taco truck, and plenty of props for a photo sesh. It was so fun to see all the people there! While I was excited to snag a pic or two for my own Instagram, I was definitely a bit star struck. It was a who’s who of Houston’s fashion bloggers–all chic AF and in the flesh. Ashley Rose was there (of course) as well as notable bloggers like @itsallchictome, @hauteandhumid, @lonestar.looking.glass, @stylethegirl, @dressupbuttercup, and more!
I did joke with a few people about how awkward we were posing in front of the wall–taking “candid” pictures on our iPhones while trying to look authentic–especially compared to the fashion blogging queens. Nevertheless, it was a super fun time and I loved all the people watching and just enjoying everyone play with the props and different color combos. It was also fun to look back on Instagram and see some of the pictures that I took get posts on other people’s pags. I foresee this location becoming not only a spot for fashion bloggers, but also engaged couples, tourists, and more! I can’t wait to come back and take some serious #squad pics with my friends. Stay tuned for more adventures at the #sugarandclothcolorwall.
