Recover from Soul Cycle with a Bite at Local Foods

I’ve never regret a good workout class. And the Soul Cycle that opened up in River Oaks is no exception. While Soul Cycle might be the original cycling class that makes you tap it back while doing pushups with candles lit and music bumping all while meditating on the greater meaning of life, it’s still a newbie to the Houston fitness crowd. The classes are pretty similar to those at RYDE and Revolution Studio, but a tad more expensive. I’m more inclined to head to one of the other studios in town because I’m all about supporting local business.

Which brings me to my next point. Local Foods. If you’re going to tap it back till you sweat out every bead of negativity in your life, you’re going to need to refuel. And what better place to do it than with some delightful vegan food that is just oozing with positive energy and locally sourced ingredients?

Located conveniently next door to the new Soul Cycle Studio, Local Foods has a patio and a super-food, healthy AF menu that rivals many places in this fine city. You order at the counter, get a number, and seat yourself. Obvi patio lyfe for days with this beautiful Houston weather. And if you’re like me, and just worked out you don’t care if you sweat a little in the humidity. There are plenty of post-cycling survivors grabbing a bite as well.

I’m beyond obsessed with Local Foods and I don’t know why it took me so long to try it. I loved it so much I literally went back twice in one weekend. #noshame. Pretty much everything on the menu is amazeballs and makes you feel good whether or not your worked out or not–even the cocktails!

Here are some of the delightful things that my friends and I sampled when we went. In addition to being super vegetarian / vegan friendly, there are lots of gluten free (and meat eater) options as well! If you’ve been, comment below and let us know what your favorite thing to eat at Local Foods is!

  1. Local Foods is soo good and my patio inspiration. Last time I was there, I had the crunchy chicken sandwich on g-free bread. After reading your post I need to make a trip back there soon.

I went to SoulCycle a few weeks ago and liked it a lot but I LOVE RIDE in the Heights. Have you tried that studio yet?
