Powerbeats3 Wireless Earphones

I’ve been expanding my electronic wardrobe and trying out these new headphones for the past few weeks. They’re wireless and have a 12 hour battery life. If for some reason you forget to charge them before a run, you can do a quick power charge for 1 hour of battery that happens in 5 minutes, leaving no excuse left to not work out because by the time your shoes are tied it’s charged and ready to go. Also the cord is way shorter so it’s less likely to tangle, making it infinitely better than the default iPhone headphones that I typically fall back on. They also hook on your ears, which I thought was annoying, but they’re super secure and don’t fall out no matter how sweaty you get (an issue I had with iPhone headphones as well). I find the shape very intense. I think I’d feel a bit awkward taking a conference call with them…definitely worth checking out! Buy them here! – A

Milk + Honey Cosmetics line

I’m super obsessed with everything that I try. Currently crushing on the cream underarm deodorant. It seems weird but the scents are pretty luxurious (I’m currently using sandalwood, vetiver, and cardamom) and it feels more natural than a stick deodorant. Also, the lip sugar scrub is delightful. I’m using blood orange, lemongrass, and ginger and after exfoliating with the scrub you can even lick the sugar off — thus reinforcing how natural of a product it is. I found it removes long lasting lipstick really well. Finish off with the cardamom vanilla lip butter and you’re feeling refreshed and good to go! Everything is made in Austin, Texas. Find them at Milk + Honey Spa in West Ave. – A

Watermill Express

Watermill Express to the rescue! Recently, my apartment complex has been undergoing some construction and, with constant water outages, I less than trust my water… Thankfully there is a Watermill Express just down the street from me at Yale and 11th Street. The process is pretty simple — get water bottle, insert tokens and fill! Ps. Watermill’s CEO Lani Dolifkais also behind Clean Water Here, a worldwide initiative for clean water that has garnered the support from Pitbull and Juanes. Check out Watermill online lest your apartment decides to demolish a third of its buildings like mine has. -N

ReelAbilities

The 5th annual ReelAbilities: Houston Film and Arts Festival from February 16th to March 6th is here to help raise awareness for people living with disabilities. It’s a free arts festival that promotes inclusion and, well, the arts. Disabilities and talent are not mutually exclusive, y’all. There’s film, an art exhibit, live music, leadership talks and travel seminars, and they are all across the city.

Plain and simple: Disabilities affect pretty much all of us, whether it’s a sibling with autism or a parent who has diabetes. We can all stand together to support each other — and maybe have a little fun while we’re at it. -N

MIEARS

The Houston-based electropop artist, aka Michelle Miears, is taking the stage at White Oak Music Hall on March 3rd. If you haven’t heard of her, you should definitely check out her music on SoundCloud. I honestly just played it while at work and it’s so good! Miears is performing with Tee Vee and Pearl Crush, which are also powerful female performers. This is actually Michelle’s solo gig, but she is also the frontwoman of Houston-based electronica trio, BLSHS. Get tickets for the March 3rd show! – N
