3 Houstonians to Be in 2023

Happy New Year, fellow Houstonians! We made it to 2023 and last year both felt like it passed by in a minute as well as dragged on and on.

Whether you’re opting out of new year’s resolutions or are trying to invent a new *you* this year, I’ve got some suggestions for three people to be in 2023 — plus tips and recs for how to become them! (Affiliate links!)

The Fitstonian

Workout set / Weights / Jump rope / Bag / Hat / Shoes

This might be the obvious option around the new year. We all want to ~get fit~ and are usually at our most motivated to do so! Now’s the time to get that ClassPass membership!

The persona: Works out almost daily, knows where to park at all of Houston’s trails, has a go-to juice spot, never misses a Monday workout.

What to get: A ClassPass Membership, first and foremost! So many of Houston’s top boutique studios are on there! Get TWO WEEKS FREE! (Classpass partner link)

What to wear: Invest in some cute sets — I like this one because it has an option for all of Houston’s wild and unpredictable weather.

Houston spots to go: Boost, Memorial Park, CycleBar, Buffalo Bayou Park, Crew Fitness.

What to know: We all love a good sweat, but consistency is key! Rely on the scheduling platform on the ClassPass app to plan out your week of workouts!

The Houston Foodie

Charger / Fan / Tripod / Containers / Portable Light

Is 2023 the year you commit to the Houston food scene?! Well have at it (and grab some to-go food too!)

The persona: Orders for 12, takes leftovers every time, always knows when a new restaurant opens, finds the best lighting.

What to buy: Invest in a table fan for the fly season — which is also unfortunately known as patio season! These fans keep the bugs away while you dive in!

Houston spots to go: Gatsby’s, Gratify, Wild Oats, Blue Sushi Grill, Lulu’s, Lee’s Den, Kin Dee, Dinette

What to know: A Houston company is making finding your next foodie adventure a whole lot easier. Try the Gradi app to find and post about your favorite meals in town!

The H-Town Sports Fan

Jersey / Shoes / Tumblr / Flag / Hat

We are starting 2023 a World Series Championship, the Rockets and the Texans’ “rebuilding seasons” behind them, and two soccer teams ready to kick some booty. Here’s what you need to know to become a sports guy or gal.

The persona: Has team calendars synced to their phone, knows the best places to catch a game, has photos with Houston players, and lives in orange, blue, and red.

What to wear: You MUST get yourself an Astros jersey. I know, it’s an investment, but we’re two-time world series champs! Psstt.. there are some cheap (well, cheaper) knockoffs on Amazon!

Houston spots to go: Drift, Toyota Center, Patterson Park, NRG Stadium, Pour Behavior, PNC Stadium, Sawyer Ice House,

What to know: A neutral colored HOU hat goes with every sport…
